Demi Twitpics Her Toothless Smile
May 25, 2009 by Jeff Parsons · Leave a Comment
Proving how celebrities are real people too with all the flaws of us common folk, Demi Moore posted a picture of herself at her dentist about to have a missing tooth replaced. Granted she can easily pay to have this work done by the most skilled dentistry in the world, but nonetheless she demonstrates to the twitterverse that she has no problem showing a side of herself you wouldn’t see elsewhere.
So now we’ve seen Demi’s butt and missing tooth all thanks to Twitter. I can only imagine what’s next.
I know I’ve been critical of Ashton and Demi on Twitter before. I will say however that of all the celebrities on Twitter these two embrace what you can do with the service better than most.
They choose to shart their private lives, showing that they are real people, rather than simply broadcast what their next big project is or pimp their website. Are you listening @britneyspears?
Elizabeth Taylor Loves Twitter
May 25, 2009 by Jeff Parsons · Leave a Comment
Talk about teaching an old dog new tricks. 77-year-old actress Elizabeth Taylor has jumped on the Twitter bandwagon.
She’s currently hospitalized for what is being called a “routine visit,” but is just fine. She does have internet access however, and has been using Twitter to try to get Kathy Ireland to smuggle her dog in:
“@kathyIreland Thanks Darling for the beautiful flowers and all the prayers. Now can you just get my puppy past hospital security. Love”
Is Taylor the oldest person to use Twitter? Probably not. For a while the world thought @IvyBean104 was the oldest Twitter user until it was speculated that it was all just a hoax.

Twitter To Create TV Show
May 25, 2009 by Jeff Parsons · Leave a Comment
Twitter has teamed up with Reveille productions and Brillstein Entertainment to develop an unscripted television show that would utilize Twitter to put people on the trail of celebrities in a competive nature. No other details have been released.
Sounds kind of like The Amazing Race meets Twitter. I can’t possibly see how this could be successful. Then again, I said the same thing about a singing competition on TV. Pardon the pun, but stay tuned.

Cat Gains 500k Followers On Twitter
May 17, 2009 by Jeff Parsons · 1 Comment
Look out Ashton. Stockington the cat is gunning for you!
A cat with a Twitter account now has gained over 500,000 followers and owner Jason Scott says that that pretty much seals the deal for him as to mankind’s hope for the future. What did he expect? People love kitties!
UPDATE: I heard from Jason in the comments below and he informed me that the blog that talks about mankind’s hope for the future is written from the point of view of Penny, his other apparently jealous cat. These cat ghost writers confuse the hell out of me.
Of course the cat has no idea that he’s this popular. What does a cat really concern itself with all day besides eating, sleeping and chasing its tail?
Jason does seem to like having fun with gizmos. Check out the fancy milk contraption that was made out of an old dot matrix printer.

Want 5000 Followers? That’ll Be $267 Please.

I am not at all talented in sales and marketing. @CostaVidaFred among many others on Twitter have that expertise. In the radio business I concentrate on creating the product and letting our sales team sell it.
That being said, I still have my doubts about dumping a significant amount of cash into something that sounds sketchy at best. The folks at usocial.net are promising you 5000 Twitter followers in 21 days for just $267. There are other tiers available for different prices as well.
Okay great. How do they do that? From what I can tell by reading the purchase agreement, it’s through the use of an “advertising campaign which involves the use of social bookmarking sites.” Huh. Well how will that get me 5000 followers? What will the ad say? What social bookmarking sites will they use? What 5000 Twitter users will they target? What percentage of the Twitter followers will be spam? Too many questions I can’t find answers to before I click the purchase button.
If anyone has used this service and it has worked well for them, please tell me your story. At face value, I look at these guys like that email from the English language challenged person who wants to transfer a million dollars to your bank account if you just provided him with your account number and social.
You can get your own 5000 followers for free. It’s called participation. Become involved in connecting with people and your followers will grow quickly, while you spend your hard earned money on more important things like that limited edition Star Trek Pez collection.

Apple Rumored To Buy Twitter
May 5, 2009 by Jeff Parsons · Leave a Comment
You read that right. Tech blogs are all a buzz today about a rumor that Apple is in talks to buy Twitter for around $700 million, and hopes to seal the deal in time for the World Wide Developers Conference in June.
Steve Jobs loves making big announcements at the WWDC. There’s talks of a new iPhone announcement, a tablet, a new iPhone, and the return of Steve Jobs himself. But Twitter? Nah.
What does Apple really have to gain by aquiring Twitter? Don’t have an answer? I couldn’t come up with one either.
Facebook and Google couldn’t get Twitter, so I can’t imagine they’d sell to Apple. I’d hate to have it happen though and have Steve change the name to iTwitter.
